10 postz iz coming....

Hi all - new member. Bill's my name. Live in the Northwest suburb area of Chicago. Rode a lot from 1969 through 1972, then sold bike for 1st child's medical bills. After that never thought about it much while raising a family. They're all grown and moved out now, so I got the itch a couple years ago. Bought a LiFan 250, took the Motorcycle Rider's Safety course, got my license and was back OUT. Stator went on the LiFan in 6 months. Sold it and bought a 1983 Suzuki GR650 Tempter. ran good, but again, charging problems in a few months. So now I bought a 2003 Kymco Venox with only 4,500 miles on it. Looks like new - the guy took the baffles out of the exhaust system, sounds pretty loud. I love the looks and once it warms up (takes a while) it runs great. So far (a week) I'm very Hapy I chose it. Anyone think I need to reset the carbs without the baffles in - it does pop some when backing down. Thanks - hope to "see" everyone often. Bill on |

Hello to a fellow Venox owner and I use to live in that area, North shore near the Cheehta club and Cicero and Berwyn. I fixed one that had been done with the Baffles removed. We put the 110 main in where the 108 was and got a 112 from Tony and put in where the 110 was then put one shim under the needles and it worked. I would say you would better off useing the 2into1 exhaust from CBXman or Go Fast loudly.

Hello Bill! and Welcome!! I'm Glad you found us! Another Noxer finds his way home! Many Venox owners here will agree with you that you've made a good choice. We're very passionate about our Venoxes and about riding! There are so many things you can do with your Venox and if you look around, you'll find that this forum is jam packed with ideas, resources on where and how to get what you want, and plenty of help from our knowledgeable staff. As for your exhaust question, well, that's a hot topic here for many Venox owners. You have options. Most Baffle removals, like pops said don't always end well and need rejetting. Many of us just do the baffle mod., which brings the baffles out of the pipe about 1/4", giving it a nice sound, while keeping enough back pressure that no further adjustment is necessary. Since yours are gone, you may want to consider one of two aftermarket options. There's the 2 into1 conversion (most popular and cost effective) that pops suggested, and there's the louder (and more expensive) shotgun pipes (which I really like). You can read all about both here on this thread about Aftermarket Exhaust for the Venox! Also, since you are new here and this is your first post, below is some helpful information to help you get comfortable with the forum and get all you can from it. Welcome to the new home of PIWYR.com There are a couple of key areas we want to be sure you have read.
Still have a question ? Then please post it or PM a volunteer member of management, they will be glad to help. Here are a couple of other features you might want to take advantage of:
Post as little or as much as you like but please be sure and keep your account updated and accurate so you can recieve the forums latest news. But above ALL have fun at your new forum !! |

QUESTION(s) ? piwyrmanagement@gmail.com

Thanks for the intro !!!As pops and Annox posted... you have several options. With baffles all the way out you do need to rejet as pops stated. It can take quite (??) a few miles before the need becomes apparent. On of my venoxes has the CBXMAN's 2n2-1 exhaust replacement (under $200.) Look into it, if any questions/links/etc. please post away.... |

Thanks all for the welcome and advice. What I'd like to do is buy new baffels and then do the mod some of you have suggested. Any idea where I can buy them? Only through a dealer? On to positives. Had a chance to do more riding since I joined this great group. I really love this bike! As I might have said, I read up on the Venox on the "net" for the last 2 years. Always looked like a good deal. Now as an owner, I can say it is all the bike I think I'll ever need. Glad I found this one at a great price. Going to try to have my wife take a picturre to post here. Talk more later....thanks again to everyone.. Bill |

I do not know where you might find used baffles. There are not a lot of pipes for the Venox out there so not a lot of spare parts.

As pops states... tough to find baffles unless you get them new from a dealer... Do you know about the rear sprocket upgrade? By far the best mod you can do to improve the nox at a cheap price!! |

Welcome to the group. Glad to have another Venox owner. I would agree with the rest of the guys. I still have my baffles as factory, so can't talk much about that. I will say the sprocket kit is the way to go. |

Thanks guys. I'm going to look at the 2n21 setup. Also a friend (a motorcycle gearhead) thinks he can help by manufacuring a plate to go across the open end of the pipe with a smaller hole in the center to increase the backpressure (for carb jetting purposes). He says not all the baffeling is gone on mine. After initial outlay to buy the bike (in keeping peace in the family) I've agreed with wife to wait til my birthday for the sproket MOD. I read all about it from you folks over in the Kymco forum. It sure looks like the way to go! Thanks again. It's only 52 degrees, but I'm going out riding! See ya, Bill |
