I never hose my bike down, just a damp sponge and buff dry. Mind you in saying that, it never really goes anywhere it's going to get that dirty.

we just might have to remedy that situation A damp cloth won't cut the mustard if you have given the bike a mud-bath, indeed this would be very bad since you will scratch the paintwork due to the grains of sand that will be embedded in the mud. Some form of hosing is the best solution in this event followed by the aforementioned chamois buff and waxing. |

Well I wash my bike every week and wax it every 4 weeks, but then because I ride every day it does get a bit dirty |

One key point is to get the water off immediately before it spots up! I use a product called The Absorber. You can pick them up pretty cheap at "wally world" (aka- Wal Mart) or any auto parts store. It works better than a regular chamois cloth. You can wring it out as you use it and you can leave it damp, rolled up in it's storage tube that it comes with. It is also washable and long lasting. I always use it after a wash and also when it rains. There's nothing worse than a spotted up bike after a rain. Once a week, I wax Napoleon with Meguiar's "tech wax 2.0". It's a light polishing wax that leaves a nice wet look shine. Once every couple of months I'll use the hard cleaner wax to remove any built up road grime. I too ride every day, rain or shine so it often gets muddy, sandy, spotted, so I try to keep up with regular cleaning and polishing. Once in a while I'll use Turtle wax brand chrome polish on all the chrome, and then go over it with wax to protect the finish. Yup!... lots and lots of buffing. It's tedious but rewarding and theraputic. Shine on! |
