Here is a aerial shot of the "hill" I have referred to several times.

The green dot is again where I live.

The road is reasonably narrow (ie if a "B" train is coming the other way youve got big problems and some of the truckies take two drivers so one can stop traffic so they can get round some of the corners). The road has an open speed limit on it - 100km/h but there has been talk of reducing it to 80km/h because of the number of crashes on it. It has some corners with advisory 25km/h although most are 35 or 45km/h.

From home to the town of Featherston on the other side is 22km so its quite a nice little twisty ride on the way home

This a view of the road from the Featherston side just before you start climbing:

:OLD: Certainly not flat like it is around here. Pretty but not flat. I would have to get that bigger rear sprocket.

Yes I was thinking that last night when I went over on the way home, but first I will have to get a camera :LOL2:

If you rode here you would certainly need the sprocket (from what I have read about them), alot of this country is mountainous, we do have flat plains but they are only small in comparison to where you are.

Sounds like a fun ride. Videos are great, but like you say "getting a camera". The one I used for my videos belongs to my sister-in-law who took it with her when she moved back to New York. So now I'm limited to digital photography 'till I can muster the cash for a video cam.

Yes it is a fun ride, I usually and try to go over a couple of times a week if its not to windy because one downside is that the wind sometimes gusts to 160km/h around some of the corners and it is not unknown for HD riders to suddenly find they are straddling the fence. It was closed for a couple of days last week because of wind - a car had got blown over the side.

Now I have said all that it is actually part of State Highway2 so it does cause a bit of bother when it gets closed for more than a day
